Primary master hard disk fail

I am trying to replace a hard drive that supposedly crashed. But every hard drive I install I get this message. And, I know the hard drive is a working one because I just took it out of another computer. Any suggestions??

try new cable?
try setting it to a different controller? or as slave just to see if it works may be the controller on the motherboard FatesWebb

if you do what I suggested it is not my fault...
