I have created a linked table based on a CSV file. However, MS Access 97 will not let me have the option in its link import wizard to assign primary key to a field. Is there any way one could achieve this?

Can't u edit the table in its design view...? If ur Primary key field will have duplicate values than Access will never let u assign it as a Primary key. First try importing the table as such without assigning the Primary key. Then open the table in its design view and click the field and then press the button of Primary key from toolbar. On saving the table if access doesnot allow u to save with primary the most probable cause will be that ur fieled has got duplicate values so check them before going further.

Cheers!

Thanks. As long as a table is linked, I understand, you cannot assign primary key in the design area. You might want to try experimenting yourself. It will not let you save the change. I am aware that this field needs to have unique values in order to assign a primary key. The values I have imported are not duplicate. I hope this clarifies. Any other insights?
