Primary key blank

Hi,
Does anyone know a solution for this problem: Whenever the user add a new record a Prospect key number is generated by the database. Now all the info entered is there except the prospect key (blank).
Your help is appreciated.

How exactly is the data generated for the Prospect key and inserted in the field when the record is added?

This is an entry data form. To add a new member, the user type the info except the prospect key. The prospect key defaulted to the next number.
I hope this is clear.

OK, is the Prospect key an autonumber or is there code to calculate it? What method is used to put the data into the field, code or some other method?

No code, Prospect key is autonumber.

If it is Autonumber and a new record is definitely being added to that table, then there is no way the number can not be added as well.

You right, the reason the number was not being added was because the field was on number not autonubmer.
