Does anyone know anything about this? There seems to be a problem with backing this filegroup in SQL 2000. I've been trying to do it with Backup Exec and with the SQL backup thing, and I can't get it to work.

Veritas say it's a Microsoft problem and that MS know that it's there - but there's nothing in the Knowledge base. Anyone know if there's a fix? And/or do I really need to back this up?

When you create a new database, it starts with a copy of Model. That is where your new database gets its default information from. Is it necessary to back it up? Well, if you delete or lose it..my understanding is that you will no longer be able to create new databases.
