When i boot my system i get the error primary disk failure and there is a noise coming from the Harddrive. Please let me know how to fix this and boot thru my harddrive. It is a 4 GB hdrive and it is almost full. Thanks a lot.I appreciate any feedbacks.

Yikes! Doesn't sound good. If it's a 4Gig drive, it's probably old and may have reached the end of its life.

Try booting to a floppy drive and then see if you can read your hard drive. If so, I highly recommend getting another HD and installing it in your computer. Then try copying it off the bad drive to the new drive.

If you can't read your hard drive at all, take it to a computer repair shop and see if they can read it.

Ya i had already got a 60 GB drive and i did try to boot thru the floppy and then read the Cdrive, but could not.I too think that the drive has crashed. Thanks a lot,i just wanted to make sure there wasnt any way i didnt try before throwing it.

If you hear a grinding noise coming from inside your hard drive, the read/write heads may be "crashing" onto the hard drive's platter.
