Does anybody have any ideas on alternative pricing models for selling software.
I need to come up with something soon because of the request for a proposal.
This is new to me and I don't want to charge too little and end up "chasing my tail" or charging too much and scaring off interested parties. My idea was to have an stand alone application price with yearly maintenance fees.

Any ideas would be much appreciated,

Thanks,

KSR

Depending upon what your software program does, you might consider selling a "per use license". For example, a company sells a piece of software that produces a government-required report. The company could price this functionality as, say, $500 for 100 reports and count the number of reports prepared.

Interesting "per use licence"

Thanks for the tip
