Hi,

We're using Accpac 5.5 and our functional currency is AUD.
We also sell in AUD but want to be able to sell in EUR as well.

I’ve set up the new price list/currency for the customer however we work on a cost plus basis when selecting the price list it only gives me the option of discount or Markup on markup cost where as in the AUD currency I have many more options, markup on average cost etc.

Can I not have the other options if the price list is not for the functional currency?
If not, how would I be able to sell in another currency?

It really does look as if I cannot have a pricelist in a different currency other than the functional currency and have the price calculated as markup on average cost.

Is there really no workaround here?
How can I sell items in a different currency.

Just to confirm - your inventory is costed in AUD and you want to create a pricelist in USD that would be AUD * some markup * conversion factor?

You can update price lists using the Copy Item Pricing function and automate that via a macro. That might allow you to set up the USD pricelist not by markup but by discount. Set the discount levels to 0. Update the prices each night using a factor to represent (some markup * conversion factor).

One note: I haven't test but if your price is based on marking up the average cost - what happens when you have no stock? Does the price become zero?

That also would allow you to keep the price list in AUD but print the prices in USD on the invoice. You can receive any currency when paying an invoice but you can only invoice a customer in the currency of their account set. Said another way you can't invoice me in AUD and USD at the same time. Your invoice can show 'USD'. I can pay you in AUD, USD and CAD and you can accept that.

Thanks for your reply DjangMan.
Yes, inventory in AUD, selling in USD. USD price is AUD + markup * exchange rate.

Automating the Copy Item Pricing Function is a good idea I haven't thouht off. Thanks for that.

I think these pricelists in general are rather confusing to me.
Under I/C item pricing on the discount tab I can set a markup on the cost (if I sell in functional currency).
But why is that under discounts? Shouldn't the discount lower the price?
And why do I have a prices tab than? What would I usually enter there?
It got a sale and a base price.
If I select my USD pricelist and click on the blue triangle next to base price, it actually gives me an option "Cost Converted Using Exchange Rate Plus a Percentage".
This is actually exactly what I want.
Problem is I have to select an inventory location as it calculates the price based on the cost from that location.
If you sell from another location and the item has a different cost there, it still uses the cost of the location from the price list.

I find this Price and discoutn tab very confusing. Would you know know what they are used for?
