Hello all i have a couple of questions. I have a customer that we have 3 magix networked , one is about 120 miles away from the other 2. they are tied together with pri's at the moment. they are building a new bulding at the far location and want to upgrade to an ip office and use exsiting 4400 series phones .

they dont want to have to go full ip at this momment so ip trunks are out . so can i use the ip 400 pri card to tie to the main location with the magix 100d card and has anyone done this how did the udp work out?

I have done it and it works well. We are only using it for extension to extension calls but it works great. it was very easy to set up. I have one site where we have like 60 spectra link wireless phones on the magix and 10 feet away is the IPO and it works great. all calls go in and out of the IPO and over to the magix. Just use short codes to route to the merlin from the IPO.

I have it working w/out any issues. Busy environment too. You'll probably have some clocking issues at first, but once that gets straightened out, you should be good.

Figure it out damn-it!

There is a tech tip on setting up Qsig trunks to a Legend/magix..."

Could anyone point me to this as I've searched a lot and found almost nothing about qsig and Legend/Magix - except that qsig is not a "thing" on Legend/Magix.

Does qsig go by another name on Legend/Magix?

There is no qsig on magix/legend.

I'm an "old guy" so I have accepted the ip side of the system with more than a little skepticism, but have grown more agreeable to it as either I age or the system performs better, take your choice (or maybe the drugs are kicking in - or flashbacks, perhaps?)

IP trunks between sites work very well, especially with point to point T1s in place already. If your're using the existing 4400 sets then you're not going full ip anyway, just ip between the sites. I set this up on our first IP Office install 5 years ago and it works flawlessly (and always has). I would strongly suggest replacing the magix equipment with an all ip office network - you will be happier in the long run. The centralized voice mail alone is worth the initial headaches.
