I'm thinking of having a PRI installed in one of our Norstar locations MICS 4.1. It's been awhile since I've configured a key system with a PRI circuit. If I have people with DID numbers what's the best way to set this up? I was thinking of programming group keys and then assigning a DID number to ring on specified phones, can this be done that way?

what is a group key?

but you can program a single DID to ring on a group of phones. assign the target line to all the sets that you need to ring

Group key I guess is an old term I use to use when programming Executone phones. Maybe a Pool key? Another words a key when pressed accesses a group of line that I assign it. If I have a DID number coming in on a PRI how is this assigned? On the Meridian PBX I would just program that 4 digit number to the key. On the Nortsar I only know it by assigning the trunk line to the phone, but since this isn't a trunk line I'm curious as to how this is done.

target line is a logical trunk line starting from 145

program ur did reced digits and prime it to the required set and then assign target line to the sets


you need a pri enabler keycode AND
DTI card AND
services card OR combo card

I think of them as like an acd. target line recieves 4 digits from the telco and translates them to a norstar extension.

PRI on 4.1 is not a good idea. Many issues. Upgrade to at least 5.0. It will save you the headaches later..

Also FYI you cannot use Pool keys with PRI. PRI programming requires calls to go thru the destination codes and routing.

What issues are there regarding 4.1 and PRI?

One I can remember off the top of my head is unreliable or non existent off premise forwarding / transfering

make sure that you have a release 2 NVRAM ...release 1 has a bunch of memory loss/ corruption problem

whenever upgrading software ...just go to the latest version where all older bugs are fixed(if possible and ur apps are compatible)
