Was talking to a vendor today regarding installing PRI's on Merlin Legends. He mentioned that only Rls 7 supports PRI's? Is this true - I thought PRI's were supported after 4.2?

Is he trying to upsell me or are the problems with the other releases??

My copy of the pocket reference says that PRI is supported as of 4.2 (issue 1 april 1999, 555-670-116). I've only installed one on 7 or higher, but the docs say it should work. It looks like the 'routing by dial plan' was added in r5....

The gentleman I spoke with indicated that releases prior to 7 have problems with PRI's. Any truth to that???

seems like there may have been a problem with the ds1 being next to the power supply, or slot 6 or 13?

actually, now I"ve read through the system planning docs. It appears that PRI was available as early as 2.1, but there were protocol enhancements in 4.2.

Hopefully someone (merlinman?) can let us know if there was a more 'stable' release for pri....

I'm guessing that this guy just wants to sell me new processors. Just want to make sure I won't have problems installing PRI's on my rls 5 and rls 7 systems...

Well, I only sell/recommend R7 at the earliest because I know virtually ALL BUGS were worked out by that release.

I do not recall implementing PRI on anything earlier than an R7, mainly 'cause all the Dealers I work for do not sell anything earlier than the R7.

I have a supply......

But we won't go there.....

I've installed them on R4, 6 & 7's with no problem. I believe initially the 2.0 only supported the 5ESS, 2.1 added connection to a Definity, then you jump to 4.2 which added the DMS and DEX switches and a bit of a jump to 6.0 which added private networks networking.

I agree with Franke, but the R7 offers so much more, as in Merlin Messaging support.

Well, I'd rather not upgrade a bunch of PBX's that we're going to ditch next year. I'll go with what I have now and cross my fingers.

:)

Thanks all!
