Hey All,
Have a question and it may be rookie level but thats me.. I have a 8PRI that comes into a specific loop actually there is 8 loop one primary and one standbye for each PRI . My boss wants to elimainate 4 PRi and order 2 Trunk groups repointing all did into these loops. Is that even possible. I mean i not sure how the PRI LOOP actually works. Does this effect traffic? i now there are 24 channels 1 for signaling however does that mean i can only recieve 24 calls at one time on that Loop? i sorry if this is vague or unclear basically i want to make sure that once teleco changes pri if there is anything i need to do or look out for. Thanks

Each Loop is one PRI. A Route has any number of trunks.

Give you mind a picture of the trunk group this way:

Go to LD 21. REQ LTM. That will list all the trunks in all routes.

Now to see what a Loop looks like, go to LD 60 and type STAT.

Compare the LD 21 REQ LTM list of the trunks to the LD 60 STAT list of loops. You will also see how some loops have a DCH... sometimes each loop has a DCH.

To see all your DCHs, go to LD 96. Type STAT DCH.

This will give you a better idea of how things fit together.

GHTROUT thanks i did look at the members and compared to the PRI and how they route and i understand a lot more. So really by eliminating the 4 pri and changing to a truck group nothing should change. Simple look at the Loops i can see that 2 PRI already point to a specific loop. I would guess i just need to watch the traffic. for example. I have Loop 12 with 23 TN members I will assume i can only handle 23 calls in or out at a given moment. Correct. Thanks

You can handle as many concurrent calls as there are TNs in a route.

Make sure you know what circuit is connected to what loop. You will need to be certain so you can communicate to your phone companies as you plan this.

Thanks for your lesson I appreciate learning that way. I understand and will look at the plan thanks

Before you plan to disconnect anything through the telco, you might want to disable the PRI's in the PBX, so if you do find anything is blocked, you can quickly enable it until you figure out that piece.
You may also want to talk to your Telco to find out where they are sending inbound calls, you do not want to block those either.
