I am trying to turn up a PRI on a Magix 2.0 and having a few problems. I get a slow busy on both inbound and outbound, however the D and all the B channels are in service. The carrier is AT&T Local. They have a 4ESS that is set to ATT Custom, ESF, B8ZS. I made sure this is how the Magix is programmed. I have also checked the number of digits that they are sending for the DIDs and all the obvious parameters in the PRI config.

Has anyone out there setup an AT&T Local circuit? Just wondering if there are any special services I should be associating the PRI. Also, does Magix support PRI on 4ESS switches? I assume it does because it let me configure it that way.

Yes, a Magix will work with the #4ESS.

Did you assign your B-channels to trunks?

If you think all your programming for the PRI is correct, under maintenance, check the status of your channels and see if they are 'busied-out', if so, reset and release the module and see if that clears the problem.

If possible, it would be helpful if you could cut & paste your PRI setup, otherwise we would be guessing at possible causes and solutions.

It is working now. Franke, thanks for reminding me to status the B channels. I had to individually restore every one of them. I didn’t think of checking that because the carrier said the B channels were in service, also because I had completely removed and readded the programming and busied, reset, restored the DS1 card several times, so I am not sure how they got busied out.

After restoring the B channels, I was able to receive calls, but not make outgoing calls. To get the outgoing calls to work I had to go to the PRI -> outgoing -> CBC - > NetworkServ and change it to AT&T Toll/MegconWATS and also delete one digit in the CBC tables. I have never had to set it up like this before, but this is my first time setting up a PRI when the LEC is AT&T.

Thanks

Good work. As a matter of course, I always do a board reset and restore after the carrier provider says they have released the circuit.

Also, don't get to comfortable with this setup and AT&T (though it will generally be the case with a #4 or #5ESS, as I've noticed AT&T is migrating alot of their circuits to DMS switches.

Again, good work
