I have a IP office with 8.1(95) the PRI is provided by a local wireless provider that gives 15 meg data and PRI. We have one other system 9.0 that is working good but doesn't have near the call volume. I replaced PRI card, VCM card upgraded software to current 8.1(95), checked codec, turned off direct media path, phones are on a separate p.o.e switch and cabling. The problem is intermittent static on inbound outbound, dropped calls occasional one way audio. PRI provider insists there is no problem with their stuff. What can I do to get to the bottom of this.
I know most problems are with provider but how can I prove it is or is not the equipment.
I tried using monitor and sending to text but it's like reading Greek

trace the PRI with Monitor only having the ISDN options enabled and you will see the cause codes for ending calls
cause code 16 is normal anything else should help with the disconnecting calls
In SSA you can see the PRI performance and you can also see slips on the connection, if there are none then the actual connection between the system and the (I assume) Cisco router with PRI interface or equivalent is OK and the problem can't be traced from your side as you are not at the interface that causes the issues.

Your PRI-card gets the signal from some sort of SIP/PRI-converter, which is hooked up to a wireless link? That sounds like a QoS disaster.

Kind regards

I have a meeting set up with provider next week. Voice does have priority for Qos. The provider keeps saying you have the same system with same circuit at another location and it works fine. I am looking to change voice circuit to windstream PRI. Unless SIP may work better

My point was, you get the signal in to your building on a wireless connection.
Wireless will never have the same quality as a cable connection.

Put the trace on as per Westi's instruction, log to file.

Kind regards

Gunnar

had 2 of these and both were ripped out within 6 months
I told the first customer after they wer complaining about bad voice quality in bad weather to look out the window (it was snowing really hard) and then think about the line of sight wireless link to the station about 5 km away and if they could see it.
They ordered the new PRI the same day.

Hmm microwaves are absorbed by water (that's how the tin box in the kitchen works).
snow made up of lots of water

hardly a surprise.

we also had a customer whose link would drop at 16:30 every Friday afternoon.
just when the delivery truck stopped at the security gates to collect that weeks shipment - spooky.

Wireless connections are always trouble & should only be considered when no other options are available (including carrier pigeons)
