Hi all,

I install IPO's in Bermuda. Bermuda is notorious for not having the greatest of PRI or Analog line service. Recently I have been having issues with systems with PRI's. Something would happen to the PRI say overnight and the next morning the client would call me out because the system was unable to make or receive calls. I would have to reboot the IPO and everything works fine again. For one customer they called me out 4 days in a row last week.

Questions:

Does anyone else experience PRI issues where they have to reboot the IPO?

I was talking to a local TELCo installer and he said they used to have issues all the time with the BCM50 and PRI issues. He said they would turn adjust "settings" to make the BCM50 not so sensitive to PRI issues (timing etc)He said there should be a way to make the IPO stop reporting Clocking errors thus in turn stopping the lockup issues with the IPO. Does this make sense?

I know a lot of you will probably say make the TELCo fix their end but it has been like this for years here and they'll just say everything is working fine. If their are any work arounds that would stop the IPO locking up they would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Derek

I had a customer where the pbx switch type was set for NI2 but the provider was set for Ni 1. This would cause thr B channel to drop and they would need to reboot the IPO 2-3 week. The D link never did just the B. It would always need a reboot to temp repair.
I would run monitor noromal pri tracing and confirm all setting from the CO

Do u notice it right before a yellow or red alarm???

I know this might seem to add some extra complexity, but I have found a media gateway like Quintum or Patton is more robust on the PRI than the IPO. So, you could <CO> -- <PRI> -- <Gateway> -- <PRI (or SIP)> -- <IPO>

At least a reboot of the gateway will also be a lot less disruptive.
