Having some issues with a customers PRI,

when the customer goes off hook they do not get the initial dial tone. If they go through and dial a number the call rings and goes through no problem but i do not get that initial DT.

the provider came out and tested and they said they are getting DT on their end but we all know how correct that information might be
any suggestions

If your PRI is going through another Interface then this may stop dialtone because the digits dialed are being checked before dialing.
Example: the PRI line from the telco goes into a IVR box first then into the PRI-DTM.
I have had this situation were by a Taxi company intoduced IVR between the pri and the BCM.

You could also set SECOND dial tone against the Route digit.

eg: route digit 9 set second dial tone.
Located in the routing table 3rd Tab along.

Like posted before me the 2nd dial tone feature can fix this or you can also have telco provide it. Before the 2nd dial tone was even a feature on these systems you used to have telco do it cause there was no other way. Some customers didn't mind not hearing dial tone and some do has you are finding out here.

i had a feeling that was what that feature was for.

Will test when i go back on site stars for both of you

By default, as you have found out, a T1/PRI generates stony silence. Depending on the telco protocols, they may or may not be able to generate false DT for you (our's can't).

That is why Nortel added the second DT feature...
