I just installed a DTI card and a new fractional T configured as a PRI, channel 1-9 B channels, and Channel 24 is the D channel. 10-23 are unchecked. All dip switches on the DTI are in the UP position. PRI is set accending. I am using a normal CAT5 cable from the DTI to the ADTRAN splitter that PAETEC provided. I have had them do invasive testing and they say it looks good on there side. My ALARM log shows check connection to the DTI card. I have used CAT5 in the past just fine. How do I trouble shoot this. I am considering swapping the DTI card out,(i have a spare), and considering patching the switch with the 10-17-07 Smart Update that just came out, and was thinking about the cable. I need this fixed tonight, and have alot of pressure to do so. Any ideas? note:BCM50 R2.

Thanks

What is your Clocking set for Master/Slave?

Why change the engine if all you need is to change the spark plugs.

Or Primary

Why change the engine if all you need is to change the spark plugs.

Can you tell me where to see that setting? T1 parameters? under Trunk module? or where?

My clock source is set to Secondary External. I am not sure if that is Primary, or Master/Slave. I am reading a tech article on that now.

It should be set to Primary

I got it fixed. I replaced the DTI card, and made a new cable from the DTI card to the ADTRAN. I also removed the Loop Back PigTail from the Verizon SmartJack. I disabled the DTI card, replaced it, re enabled it and we have not dropped a call yet. I don't know if the cable was causing it, but I never changed a single setting in Element Manager. I would like to know what the real issue was, but will never know because I tore through that like mad to end the trouble. Anyone have a DTI card brand new do this?

Thanks

I had BCM50, BCM400, DTI, GATM8 parts failed out of box . About 10 % rate out last 38 systems that we rolled out in house so far this year had new out of box equipment failure . It is very alarming about QA on Nortel parts.

I have yet to get a single item warrantied from Nortel. I am an end user with support on all core items,( I buy the GA support on all BCM's), and purchase usually from CDW. If the items is under 30 days, CDW will take it back, if it is over they say call Nortel. I call Nortel and they say call the reseller. It just goes in a circle, and I buy another part from CDW to fix the issue, and that is it. I am going to try to Warranty this DTI card, but the location it is in, used CO lines until the PRI was ready (took 40 days), so I am past the CDW time but it was just turned on the first time this week. It sat unopened on my desk until the PRI was ready. And I must attempt to warranty from Nortel. Thank goodness we have another location opening up next month and I had the Phone system on the shelf ready. I stole the part from that one.

Thanks

Good to hear you got it working, did you remove the loop back plug before you changed the card? Because that could have been the problem all along and not the DTI card. Also if this is the only T1 in the system then you need to make sure that your clock is set to Primary on that span. Otherwise you could have problems doen the road with slipping.

All my equipments are ordered via A&T and Qwest which give me one year warranty . No question asked . Had one BCM50 failed replaced twice (first Lan port then hard drive ) by my vendors so pick yours carefully.

I used to have a local vendor that may have been good like that, but they quit selling Nortel. That is when I noticed CDW selling it, and they have descent Telephony reps except for Warranty. Thanks

A1 Teltronics has great prices and 2 yr Warranty.

This is an Analogy so don't take it personally as some have.
