Is it possible to associate specific phone numbers to a specific PRI? We are currently losing the copper connection into our building and it costs to much to reestablish them. So all of our phone connections will be thru a fiber connection to the CO. We still have some modems, which run 24 hrs. a day, that were connected to dedicated POTS lines. They had dedicated POTS lines because they took up space on our PRI's. They still need the modems to work, but I don't want them back on the regular PRI's. Will it work if I had another PRI installed and dedicated the circuits just to those modems? Does anyone know if this is possible?

yes very possible and not that hard, real easy inbound and do-able outbound as well..

You didnt mention what type of PBX you have, or whether these are inbound and/or outbound modems. Outbound modems should be pretty simple..but inbound might pose some problems.

For outbound only.. you should only need to install them on analog cards. For inbound/outbound modems, you might look into running a LINESIDE T1 . If you have a large switch, the card is the NT5D11 or, the small system uses the NT5D14. The LINESIDE T1 should be a viable solution.. but would require you to have them in your DID range.

Although I'm not a telco expert, I would think you might be able to purchase a fractured T1, and dedicate that circuit to your modems..but that would require some extra equipment. Of course, you may need to install an addtional PRI or T1 circuit, should your modem usage be pretty high.

either way is simple.. inbound, auto yes in the route if they are not did's outbound,i would build a dsc, pointing that to the modem route.. modem dial 8881 plus the 7 or 10 digit number...

very hard to think of much of anything you can build in a 61.

These would be for outbound modems. I just don't want those lines to interfere with my regular telephone customers. Does anyone have instructions on how to do this? Thanks for the replies at least I know it can be done.
