What exactly does a PRI enabler do? How can you tell whether it is already installed or not? Do you need it to have two T1 circuits?

Thanks!

THE KEYCODES FOR THE PRI ENABLER JUST GIVE YOU THE OPTION OF SETTING UP A ISDN-PRI T1, EVEN IF YOU ENABLE YOU DON'T HAVE TO SET THE T1 FOR PRI

Also, to tell if it is enabled, you will not have any prompts for PRI if it has not been enabled.

I beleive you'll need a seperate key code for each T-1 card you wish to enable.

NO YOU DON'T ONCE THE PRI ENABLED YOU CAN ADD ALL 3 IF YOU WANT IN 6.0

1. No you dont need it at all if your only setting up for T1 circuits

2. To tell if you have it enter into hardhare settings and try to change the cards on the main cabinet from loop or T1 to pri if Pri is not one of your choices you dont have the key code enabled

3. Unless im mistaken you only have 2 slots for T1/line cards on the main cabinet and T1 cannot be but into 12X0 cabinet

WhiteStar, you need to check out the new stuff. 3 T-1's on Norstar have been out for quite some time now. Third one does go into an empty 12x0 cabinet.

I am more confused now than I was before.

I currently have 1 T1 from XO coming in for local and long distance. We are paying a monthly charge which I believe is for a PRI. I recently asked my phone vendor to install a second T1 card so that I can add long distance service from another carrier. At that time, they told me I do not haev a PRI enabler. How can is it that I would be charged monthly for a PRI if I don't have it enabled? I am not using Caller ID or anything, so do I even need the PRI Enabler?

sounds like you don't have a PRI, it's probably just a T-1. With a T-1 you wouldn't need an enabler. XO PRI's come standard with Caller ID Number, so if you are not getting that displayed on incoming calls, it doesn't sound like you are paying for a PRI from XO. Your XO rep can verify this for you. When I replied earlier, I misinterpreted your request for two t-1 circuits as two PRI circuits. Sorry if I confused things. Hey Marv01, I know about the 3 DTI's as well but haven't installed because I have heard of issues on the call handling of 3 T-1's on a MICS. Is this true, or do you think it is a sales bash to try to get customers scared into a larger PBX?

Vegasnortel, Good question. I have only played around with the 3 DTI stuff a little. I do not have any customers with 3, so not too much exposure here. Have heard RUMORS that older KSU's with slower processors may stumble, but that is RUMOR only. Heck, I don't know how to determine what processor is being used by vintage of the KSU. You know how rumors go.
Anybody have more on this????
