So I am reading FAQ 689-3784 - PRI setup

I am OK until I get to this entry:

6. Program Lines.
Lines=> when prompted for b-channel group, type 1 + Enter=>enter line trunks (1st 23 only)

Ok so it refers to lines as 2 digits and then in the manual it expects 3 digits. Does it expect the trunk numbers? I think they start at 849??

I don't have a system to test this on. What am I supposed to supply for lines? I see I define a group, then add the slot numbber and channel of the PRI trunk. Then I am supposed to assign lines, all 23. Lines seems odd for a PRI since PRIs have no lines. But what exactly do I enter for line number?

Item 6 of that article is correct, just missing some details.

When you get to that point, you are assigning lines to the B Channel Group. So, if the 23 lines are physically lines 805 to 837 (828 being the D Channel) then you simply "HIGHLIGHT" those lines. That is, you "touch" 805, 806, 807 and so on.

Some would say you may want do it in reverse order, but I have always contended that the PRI itself manages any "GLARE" issues, but it can be done either way.

I see - kinda. You said "if the lines are 805 to 837 (did you mean 827???)..." is that my determination, ie I am assigning line numbers, or is that determined by the existing configuration? This system currently has 12 analog ports numbered 801-813. So would I number these 814-836? The feature guide shows the first PRI group starting at 849 which also has me confused. One of the analog trunk cards has to come out after the conversion so do I renumber these at that time? Where are these "lines" used? Thanks for the help.

OK, yes, I meant 827.

I WOULD STRONGLY SUGGEST YOU DON'T REMOVE ANY MODULES. It may be OK, but it's risky.

How are you coming up with 849? What is your system setup? Also, what is this "Feature Guide", is it just some examples?

Thanks for the quick reply. I refer to the feature reference guide.

It's on page 599 of the manual (not the PDF page). I could not determine if 849 was just an example or if it was a system setting.

I have no choice but to remove a module as its slot is needed by an 016 ETR card I am installing so their FAX machines can connect to the PRI. This needs to be done after the switch test and after the port. So I must remove one of the analog trunk cards after the port.

Its an example. Trunks start with 801 and can count to 880. The trunks count up from 1 from the first module on the left with trunk capability.

So if your first module is a 412 that means you have 4 analog trunks and 12 extensions. Those trunks would be numbered from 801 to 804.

If your second module is a 100D then ther are 24 trunks and no extensions. Those trunks would be numbered from 805 to 829.

Your example would be correct if the 100d is the next trunk card in the system :This system currently has 12 analog ports numbered 801-813. So would I number these 814-836?

But since there are only 4 and 8 port cards and no 13 port cards I would say that your numbering would be 801 to 812 then 813 + 24
