How compatible is the 517E15 DS1 module with PRI? I am converting from SUPERTRUNK to PRI-ISDN on a R6.0 Legend and I have two 016TR modules. The existing 100D is a 517M15 which will be replaced with the 517E15 if it is compatible or do I need a later version.... Any other gotchas?

Thanks in advance for your replys!

The e will work, THE M WILL NOT ! ! !

I have proven that with ONE LONG DAY & NIGHT ! ! !

(That is, if you have any 016's in the system).

OTHERWISE, (no 016's) the M will work.

Hi merlinman,

Is it possible to have the 517M15 DS1 updated? This customer has an Avaya maintenance contract that covers the control unit. But will they exchange the module if it is not in the switch? They have the 8-5 option. I don't want them to take the switch down for a card after I do my PRI conversion. Just asking...

Inorder to make the cutover more transparent for the customer I am setting up the PRI on the 517E15 module in another slot. This way I can have both the SUPERTRUNK and PRI working at the same time, but of course only one of them will handle traffic at a time. Pacific Bell is building a new T1 circuit for the PRI, so I can do all my testing and bug elimination before I cutover for customer use. This customer does not want any downtime or as little as possible. So we will see how it goes....

Wel, as far as having it updated, I would think it would have to be replaced.

Will AVAYA do that on a DEPOT Service Contract, I have no idea.

I would mention to Avaya that THEY HAVE DOCUMENTED that this board will not work with PRI when 016's are installed.

Perhaps that will help them with their decision.

But I really don't know.....
