Nortel Option 11...

Is there a way to make my dchanel receive caller ID name, but not send name. I was working with a vendor on a t-1 switch over (changed providers) and now when we send name to them, the outbound call gets rejected, when the vendor toggles off whatever makes caller ID work, we can make calls out, but only get number displayed on inbound.

Can you post your DCH configuration? LD 22 ADAN DCH x

Also who is the carrier, and what type of CO do they have?

If it's a DMS, then find out which kind. I don't think you want ATT as the switch type (that's for 5E switches). I think you want STD.

turns out it is ess5 for the CO. I have noticed a couple of things, if I put a call on hold, then pick it up, it has the name, and if someone leaves me a voice mail the name comes up in desktop messaging.

The CPND name thing is due to your RCAP; w/o NDS you won't get name until you pick it up or put it on hold and pick it up.

W/ NDS you're going to send name though (usually CO ignores that presentation and provides their own).

Your telco needs to ignore your name; I think I have ESS5 docs for that, let me try to find them. It may be in the Nortel KB too.

thanks a lot for looking at this Matthew.

When I was on the phone with my tech and the CO, I remember them saying they cant ignore it. That NDS is exactly what we where turning on and off, when it was on, my out bound calls failed.
This doc you are refering to, is it for the CO to set up there system to ignore my name, or something for me to program on my PBX?

BombOne, here's what you need:

SOLUTION DETAIL
Name display not working with NI2 and 5ESS.

Problem Description

Fact:
25.40
NDS
NI2
ISDN
Name Display
ESS5

Symptom:
Name display not working with NI2 and 5ESS.
With NDS configured in the RCAP of the NI2 D channel, the CO rejects an outbound call.

Cause:
5ESS not configured to support name with NI2.
Problem Resolution

Fix:
The CO must have PCNALW and CNANALW configured. "Lucent switch has the 5.1 recent change view, the field PCN and CNA has to be
set to ALLOW" (This ignores the name sent from the Meridian). The ESS5 also needs to be revision 14 or later.
RCAP on the DCH programmed with NDS and COLP.

Affected Products
Meridian Core Option 11C - Cabinet
