Can the auto attendant be setup to answer incoming calls without assigning every line to be answered? Maybe my question is " Is there a system to how the lines roll over from our published number? "

This would depend on the types of trunking you have. If you are using PRI for in/out calling the switch controls call routing. This would be the same for copper DID's as well. If you have just 1 number published that goes to COT's it is your provider who controls the hunting on those lines.

Is this a PRI specific problem? I don't know about PRI, but the system we use, I've programmed the auto attendant to answer only the first 4 lines (of 24) and the roll over is programmed on the phone company's side with our first 4 lines in the hunt group of our main number.

There are target lines, I think they are around 120 or so. If you know that line number you would program additional intercom keys on where the target number goes. That line number can also be assigned to the voicemail system for auto att.

We seven phonem buttons, button inquiry yields they are assigned to our published number. This is line 145 which I set for AA to answer. We will see what happens.

The number should always come down Line 145 the only time you should see inbound calls on Lines 1-23 are if the system don't recognize the rec. digits.

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE SYSTEM ANSWER THE TARGETS NOT THE TRUNKS OR YOU WILL RUN INTO PROBLEMS

Probably because they asked the question 2 weeks ago.

and I thought it was because he had his CAPS LOCK on.
