I have a multi tenet mics. They are getting a new pri from Verizon. Both tenets have their main number on the pri as a DID. They both need the ability to call forward their numbers to an answer service at lunch and at the end of the day. One tenet uses an auto attendant the other tenet has multiple phones programmed to ring their main number. Currently they have a pri that comes in via a voip circuit then converts to a pri. In the current scenario both tenets log into the Verizon portal and forward their phone that way. With the new service they will no longer have the ability to use the portal. Does anyone have a solution for them to be able to forward their phones when necessary?

It seems to work with f4 regular call forwarding. What is the difference with using f4 instead of call redirect?

Call forward does the phone (line and I/C).

Redirect does only the line.

Both tenets have a front end auto attendant. So I guess all calls still need to go through the auto attendant before they ring to the phone before it gets forwarded. Is that right?

Call Forward (Feature 4) will forward any call that ring at a given set (set is the keyword here).
Line Redirection (Feature 84) will forward any call that comes in on a given line (line is the keyword here).

With Line Redirection, you are sure that only calls coming in on a given line are forwarded.
With Call Forward, all incoming external calls, transferred calls and internal calls that ring at a given set are forwarded.

If you use Line Redirection, the call is forwarded before even reaching the Automated Attendant.
If you want the calls to go through the Automated Attendant, you will have to use Call Forward.

ok I get the line redirect now. The problem is that the phone doesn't have any lines programmed.when they dial 2 from the auto attendant it transfers to the extent that's how the phone rings.

You are right.

To turn Line Redirection on and off, the line (or target line) must appear on the set. You need to press that line button sometime after you entered Line Redirection programming.

If you want to use Line Redirection, you will have to add a line button on the phone.

If Call Forward works for you, you can stick with it.
