I've been trying to figure this out for about two months now and, thanks to Tek-Tips, want to confirm if this is correct. I've been getting the below alarms on a daily basis:
PRI232 DCH: 10 DATA: 00000004
Protocol Error: PROGRESS INDICATOR not supported.
07:38:36 09-01-2004
PRI232 DCH: 10 DATA: 00000004
Protocol Error: PROGRESS INDICATOR not supported.

My vendor is telling me to ignore them. However, when the circuit was installed, the carrier instructed my vendor to set the protocol to x (I don't know anything about protocols). Circuit didn't work right so carrier then asked vendor to reprogram it as 5ESS, which vendor did. I found the below on tek-tips and want to know if this is what I need to do to stop these alarms:
Also VERY IMPORTANT if you change your protocols on a DCH (NI2 to ESS5, etc.) you MUST FDL (Force Download) the DCH to make sure the proper firmware is loaded onto the card. This applies to TMDI cards as well as DCH's provisioned on MSDL cards.

Thank you!!

yes, the change will download on a power cycle or a fdl only, your above statements are correct.. also make sure you have a rls on your dch... usually 33.. and you might want to stat serv in 96.. the alarm may be caused because you have service msg enabled and not needed or not enabled and the co sends req for them.. NEVER ignore repeat alarms, if your vendor can't fix them, find a new vendor. a switch processing alarms all day is more likely to have other strange problems caused by either the ram fills up or the processor can't handle heavy traffic..

My manager is requesting my vendor replace the d-channel card with a newer one, but according to what I found and what you confirm I don't think that's going to help if a forced download needs to be done...wish I knew more about this stuff but I guess I'm learning as I go along...thanks JohnPoole.
