We have a PRI on a MICS 6.1 and have 2 problems. The first issue is for a 10 digit local call. We dial 9 985 xxx-xxxx and the call does not get processed . The telco only sees the first 7 digits. How do we program a local 10 digit calling number?
I was trying to resolve the above problem and created another. I dial 9 plus the 7 digit local number and the called is processed except when a dial a local number starting with 9 . So if I dial 9 9XX-XXXX, the call does not go thru. All other exchanges are OK.

I haven't had to do this yet where I live - all local calls are still 7 digits - but I believe you have to change the Public DN length from 7 (default) to 10.
This may make them have to dial 10 digits for EVERY local call (anybody correct me if I'm wrong)

On MICS 6.1 you need to go into System programming, Dialing plan, Public network, Pub DN lengths and set the DN length for each dialing prefix. There is an entry to set the default DN length (Prfx:Deflt...). Also you can set the DN length for calls based on what prefix is dialed. If your default DN length is 7 but you dial calls in area code 985 as 10-diget numbers, enter 985 as the prefix and 10 as the DN length. This is a bad example, but you get the idea.

That worked and don't forget to add toll free prefixes 1-888
1-877 and 1-866. By default they are not in the system programming

Good point, genauxnads. The international dialing and special service prefixes also need to be added.

The other prefixes programmed in my system are:
Default - DN Length 7
0 - DN Length 11
00 - DN Length 12
01 - DN Length 17
011 - DN Length 18
1 - DN Length 11
411 - DN Length 3
711 - DN Length 3
911 - DN Length 3

The toll-free prefixes 1-800, 1-866, 1-877, and 1-888 can use the "1" prefix entry, along with the toll calls dialed as 1 + A/C + 7-digits.

The area codes for local calls that are dialed as 10-digit numbers should be entered as prefixes with a DN Length of 10 digits.
