I am running an MXe on 10.0.1.23. We have a helpdesk line (ext 3979) that rings to 1 guy in the office via a single line key on his phone. If he does not answer the call will roll to a vm box assigned to that extension.
Recently he asked that I help him with a solution to help him with converage when he goes to lunch. What I decided to do was create a personal ring group for 3979. Then I went to our 3 engineer phones (ext 1000,1001,1002) and assigned these phones a PRG precense button for 3979 that they can press to log themselves in or out of the group. I also added them to the PRG of 3979. The functionality of the group works just fine but I have noticed 2 things since making these changes.
If you dial ext 1000,1001, or 1002 from any phone in the office, the phone will show that you are dialing the PRG (or 3979). if the user does not pick up, the call goes to the voicemail of 3979 instead of the voicemail of the extension dialed. is there something misconfigured on the prg that is causing this?
