Can anyone tell me if waht I'm experiencing with the Volume Shadow Service is normal please.
I have set up VSS to provide shadow copies twice a day on our file server.
When I look in properties of a folder I see about 9 previous versions spanning the last 4 or 5 days, regardless of whether any changes have been made to the folder or any of the contained files.
When I look at the properties of a file it is as expected - only shadow copies relating to dates when changes were actually made. In many cases no copies at all are listed because there have been no changes made since I installed 2003 server.
So my question is - is it normal for folders to be shadowed every time the service runs regardless of whether changes have been made?
