Hi all! In Outlook 2003, I noticed that when I have the preview pane opened to either right or bottom, I can "preview" the email, read it and delete it without ever opening it.

Because I never open it, the recipient gets a read receipt back from me saying the email was "not read."

Is this a bug and there is a fix with this or is this just a limitation?

Turn off read receipts under Tools, Options. Is there a good reason why you would want others to know if you have read the message or not?

I'm trying to figure out a way to automatically send read receipts...Some users have Outlook 2003 and now have the option of whether or not to send them. I can use GP to push the Tracking options setting out and then gray the settings so they are locked. Can you do anything in Exchange 2003 for the read receipt settings instead of modifying them at the outlook/user level?

I prefer Not to send them, give spammers a verification that my address is real... Then Spam increases in geometric progression.

Well, our CFO wants read receipts enabled and our user to not have the option (lock it down).

I found the option in the registy to send the receipt under: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook\Options\Mail\Receipt Response

but I can't find the registy key to lock it and gray it out...Could use group policy but don't want to modify all tracking options settins...Just the respone...

Anybody know where in the registry under Office\11.0 you can lock the tracking options page?

Thanks!
