Preventing users from deleting shares

Today I had a user delete a subfolder from a share. I promptly restored it from tape backup, but it got me thinking why Microsoft would have it setup so that a share (or subfolder of) could be deleted so easily, without so much as a flag that asks, "Are you sure you would like to delete this folder?".

Is there a way to add such a flag before the folder is zapped, or is there a way to have it sent to the recycle bin on the server so as to make the restore process that much easier?

Best practice is to build the subfolders for your users and then DENY delete for folders on that Shares/Folder Advanced Permissions

And I suggest you enable ShadowCopy so you don't have to go to tape.

I hope you find this post helpful.
