HI

I have a win2000 network with many win98 users. I want to prevent win95/98 users who don't login in (i.e. they "cancel" the windows login) from getting DHCP IP addresses. I don't think I want to use the MustBeValidated registry key becuase I understand that prevents them from getting in to the dektop if they don't login to the network, even if they aren't connected to the network. This would be bad as they may be laptop users who need to use their machines when not connected to the network. So, any way to prevent them from getting (or keeping) a DHCP IP address if they don't authenticate?

thanks for any help

Gabe

There is not a way to do this. The network startup sequence is to first get the IP address, and then present the network logon (can't logon to a server that you can't talk to)
