Prevent Lotus Notes from Zipping Attachments

I am using Lotus Notes 8.5, not because I want to, but because I have to.

I see that whenever I try to attach a file, it zips the file by default. Which means every time I have to un-check the zip check-box attachment dialogue.

Is there a work around so that the zip check box remains un-checked by default? I don't see anything that I can do in Preferences.

It is by no means straight-forward or easy.

You would need to check if these changes have been made to your mail template and then undo them. Only do that if you are an administrator and know what you're doing.

Perhaps you should also check if you are using a third-party piece of software to zip attachments. In my googling I came across a few products that do this. If that is the case, it would be much easier to stop the zip process.
