prevent field expansion from appearing over field below?

i have several fields that i would like to have expanded as needed (and they currently do). unfortunately, there are fields below them on the page (that do the same) that when printed, the fields overlap, producing text on text.

can the fields below an expanding field be auto pushed down, or do i just have to limit the field size?

Put the fields in different bands. That way the band grows with the fields.

Go to Format/Section... Pick the band you want more of, then click insert. Finally move your fields into the new band(s)
