I have a DB that has a startup form and in the open event for the form, I disable the ribbon and it works well. The problem is that the ribbon does appear for a few seconds until the startup form's open event occurs. Is there a way of stopping this appearance of the Ribbon. I am using Access 2010.Thanks

If you put the code in the Load event vs Open, does the issue still persist?

If not, then perhaps you have so much else running in the code, that it takes a while for it to reach that portion? So in that case, perhaps you could move that bit of code up further in the code.

And if that didn't work, perhaps you could put it in another form, as an intermediate step that would run this bit of code, then open the form you're currently opening... and close itself.

That's just an idea.

Thanks for suggestion KIV1611. It did not solve the problem. Access seens to startup and do some setting up and thenopen the designated startup form. It is this initial display, showing the ribbon (while it is setting up) that I am trying to hide

That really does seem odd for it to be noticeable.

The other thing you can try is the autoexec macro, which is how you used to have to start things in a database, before Access introduced the startup options. You can still use autoexec macros though. Take a look here:

Thanks again kjv1611. That is a very good Access resource and I tried the Autoexec macro with the same result as before. It seems that Access sets up the window first , is busy for a few seconds and then starts executing the Startup prog/Macro. It is this initial display that I am trying to avoid

Maybe an add-in is causing it? Have you tried checking the add-ins to see what is holding things up?

Have a look at File -> Options -> Add-Ins ->Select "COM Add-ins" from the Manage drop down, and click Go.
