Pressing 9 for Personal Directory 1

We have a Mitel 3300 MXeII w/ MCD 4.0 using embedded voicemail. If i dial from the outside and get the autoattendant and press 9 , i can access the personal directory fine. If I hear a voicemail greeting and press 9, it does not function properly it says (you are being transferred to the administrator)

Dial 9 for DBN only works from the main level AutoAtt.

when listening to the greeting, is there a key one can press to enter the main level autoatt, so they can utilize the 9?

I am fairly certain that pressing the * (star) key twice will return to the main AutoAtt whilst listening to the mailbox greeting.
