Hello,

I have a site where users can download files i.e. pictures, documents etc. The site is password protected using htaccess.

Is there a way to use the htaccess username/password list to preset a limit for transferring files? i.e. set the limit to 1MB-?MB per/day or per session? and when this limit is reached, will notify user his daily quota has been reached?

Any suggestions would be great..

Thanks,

dl

Do you have a log that keeps track of the
accumulative transfers for that day?

I'm not sure of the best way to do this
or if this can be done with htaccess.

But here are some ideas...

Maybe you could temporarily lockout the user
id after the quota has been reached for a 24 period.

You could use a disk space quota that changed daily,
but that would only work for uploads, not downloads. Robert G. Jordan

Yes, I have a log fle that tracks all users downloads, but I need to somehow restrict some of the users to a preset amount on a daily or per session basis.

I figured since htaccess has all the users listed, I could use that list to manage the downloads.
