Sometimes I want to copy layers from a project or the whole project into a new project. However if I just use the select all and then copy and paste functions, my new project does not show what I just copied into it in its orginal layer breakdown. The layers are merged into a single layer. Is there a way to preserve layers when copying and pasting like this or is there another way to do what I am trying to do? Thanks.

Hmm, I'd actually just save the document with a different name, then delete the layers I didn't want.

Ron:

In thenew document: From the layers palette flyout (click the circled arrow top right on the palette), choose "Paste Remembers Layers", and then paste the content. It will be pasted in the exact layer order with names and everything into the new document. Don't forget to turn the feature back off when you've done this, or pasting stuff within the document will be a pain.
