preserving formatting

I am writing to XML files using IIS/5.0 - I am just appending data to the tree and then saving - but I need a way of adding things like line breaks into the actual tree structure - this is purely for aesthetics - so when I look at the files it looks good?

Any ideas?

Actually - when viewed in browser - formatting is automatically applied.
