hello, I have a little linux webserver that I'm formatting/reinstalling and I'd like to backup all the html directories BUT maintain the linux file attributes so that I don't have to reinstall stuff, or spend ages troubleshooting and playing with chmod (blogging software and stuff). I usually just transfer stuff through pscp. Can I just zip it up and send it to windows and then send back and unzip? is that the best way? (I'm not the best with linux)

Yes, creating a tar file would probably be best as it stores file attributes.
