Found Unknown devices cant identify on this machine
Compaq Presario 5523 running Win98SecondEdition appears in the following way in the registry
Local_Machine\enumerator\bios\*cpqa0ea
*cpqa0e9
found it seems to be I/O addresses a0ea and a0e9
can anyone plese tell me what device this is or could possibly be because all devices seem to be accounted for that originally came with this machine.
This machine has a diagnostic partition that is 4mb in size that is not necessary for normal operation it selects via the F10 key just after BIOS memory test.
It seems to make no difference that the partition is present or not present.
It will beep on start up 2 shorts but then boot up normally into win98se.
Any device tester I use will not identify anything but unknown on those two port addresses and only winsows will say it is a compaq device "CPQ"
any help in identifying this or these devices is appreciated.
Please do not suggest any device id programs that connect to the internet, this device is not connected via any network.
I have tried several and they always say UNKNOWN device.
Surely there must be some standard to poll a device port and find what it is ???
Compaq says the machine is too old and they cant help me via the chat route.
thanx;
