Hey all,

Well I’m booking the 70-297 exam very soon and have started preparing!

Just thought I’d drop in a post to see if anyone who's passed this exam can provide me with any feedback, good prep tools! etc.

so far i been using transcenders as my prep exam and study material from the classes!! the exam is very different to what I’m used to, I can see the case studies potentially taking up a lot of time if your not careful!!

thanks in advance!!

These case studies can take tons of time if you aren't careful.

The thing that threw me when I took them exam was that unlike other exams where you can review all your answers at the end of the exam in 297 you can only review your answers at the end of that particular case study. It sounds pretty obvious but it did confuse me for a moment.

Pagy,

Thats usefull to know, thank! think i'm getting the hang of these case studies!!

did you pass 1st time?

yeah I did :-D

If you get used to the case study format before you take the exam you'll be fine, rather than like me who sat there like a lemon for 5 precious minutes wondering what was going on!!!!

You get x amount of time per case study, if I remember rightly it ranges from between about 12 minutes to a max of 30 minutes per case study.

It's either 4 or 5 case studies in the exam overall.

Yeah it is, sorry maybe I didn't explain very well.

On each case study you get x number of minutes to complete the questions and review them. When I did the exam I think I had 4 case studies, on the first case study I had about 15 minutes in that particular study to read all the material, answer the questions and then review my answers.
The second case study I had about 24 minutes.
3rd case study I had maybe 30 mins
4th I had about 28 minutes

I hope I've explained it better this time :->

The case studies has different amounts of time based on the number of questions and how much material there is to read for each case study.

good luck, let me know how you get on. It's the only exam I've got left to do to get my MCSE so am currently reading through the book and will then watch the CBT Nuggets.
I can't wait to get the MCSE under my belt, so I'll have some time to myself in the evenings!

I'm with you there guys, wow, I’ve forgot what it's like!

The exam is booked for 24th Feb so I’ll post back how I get on.

Prep so far has consisted of going over my course material using Trancender and Self Test Software preparation exams, this as well as experience should hopefully be enough to get me through 1st time, we shall see!!

Biggest problem I had with 70-297 was the small monitor. It was difficult to see all the graphics for the case studies. But, as others have mentioned, getting through the new format is interesting. The case studies are fun. At least you have to THINK about things a little! But, in true fashion, there is always far more info than what you need to find the answer.

Hey all,

I failed the 297 bad, I got 570. I was shocked. Especially when I thought I passed.

I think the different style of exam has really thrown me. I have been using transcender prep tests and been going over my course notes and literature. This is meant to be one of the easiest exams so I’m feeling a bit thick at the moment <

My attention span is pretty bad so I’m finding this quite challenging. By the time I have finished reading the case study and taking notes I find myself referring back to the beginning and when your against the clock this is not good.

I have good knowledge on all on all topics; I have already passed 270, 290, 291, 293 and 294 exams, I just seem to be struggling with this case study based 297.

I’m considering getting the MS Press book and spending two weeks, head down, page burn that then hit some practice tests.

Has anyone else experienced trouble with this exam?
