Hello and sorry if I am not in the right spot and I'm just looking for tips and hints..

My question is my organization is on the verge of changing their external public IPs. I currently have 2 Netware DNS servers one as a primary NS and the other a backup. My main question is what is the best possible way of doing a zone transfer using Netware 6.5 that will minimize any potential down time. Also, what other potential hazards might I face when this change happens? Are there any steps I should follow for updating the IP for the network built on a Novell system?

There are always hazards. Make sure you have on darn good backup, and make sure that backup is verified. With any luck the update will go well. I don't know enough about Netware to tell you what to use, but I know enough to make sure you need to cover your butt. Good luck.

if pro is the opposite of con, what is the opposite of progress?

One thing I would recommend is that at least a few days prior to the planned switch over, set the time to live values to a short(er) duration. This will cause more DNS traffic, but will prevent a scenario where someone can't resolve your sites because of a stale cache.
