Hi All,

Friend of mine (no - really!) was talking about a nasty infection that dials a Premium Rate number via your modem, running up 100's of £'s worth of calls which your phone provider insist you pay for.

Anyone heard of such a beast?

There are several I know about. Most deal with XXX sites. I can't think of their name right now though.

And while you're trying to find/eradicate it, acquiring and loading a third-party firewall to prevent unknown programs from accessing the web would be a good idea. I've been happy with Sygate's free version myself, as it stopped an annoying auto-dialer and even helped me figure out what was trying to get out.

Thanks All,

Not a problem at present, but someone, somewhere will get infected by this, I'm sure! 4-Warned = 4-Armed
