I'm using Premiere 6 (I know...it's old) and my project is setup for Widescreen 16:9. I've never done a widescreen project. The problem I'm having is Premiere won't render any of my TGA graphics files(32-bit) that involve transitions. If I just place the TGA files on the timeline with no transitions or fades I can playback fine and they don't need to render. Just the ones with transitions. I have a Matrox RT2500 card. Should I be using PSD or JPEG instead of Targa?

Hi

I would try converting the files to something else and see what happens.

I haven't seen TGA files in years.

If you are worried about file size go with Jpeg the loss of quality from the compression should not be noticeable the way they are being used.

If changing the format doesn't do it I don't have a clue.

I'd avoid JPG, myself. TGA files should work just fine.

What transitions are you using? Like star-wipe and the fancy stuff like that, or just fades?

What are the properties of your TGA files?

thanks for you responses guys. I completed the program and authored my DVD without any transitions. I couldn't resolve the problem in time to deliver DVD to client. I've never had any issued with targa files, but I think it was because the project settings were for widescreen. I was only trying to do simple fades...nothing fancy. When I have time I will try to trouble shoot the files and see if I can figure out what is going wrong.
