Premiere 1.5 Capture Issue

When batch capturing several clips, the program will sometimes stop capturing and just play the tape. Then the video cuts out and won't show anything in the capture window. The controls still function - I can play the tape, stop it, etc, but no video shows in the capture window. I've had to restart the computer to get it to function, but it always goes back to doing the same thing. Is this a problem with memory, the computer itself, or the program? Please help.
