Hello I am using Adobe Premier 6 on a PIII 1ghz PC capturing from a Sony Pc100e and I experience dropped frames.

Imported .avi files run OK in Premier, the whole of Premier's functionality is ok, I can control the DV device and see the Digital Video.

However on 'capture' frames are dropped.

I would appreciate any help you could give on this issue.

Hope I'm not stating the obvious but:
Anything running in the background?
Disk been defragged?
DMA selected?

mt

Hello

THanks for your interest.
In reply to your questions...

"Anything running in the background?" No all software and hardware possible disabled.

"Disk been defragged?" Yes

"DMA selected?" Yes

The dropping seems to be a consistent 2%+ throughout the capture process.

Usint the same camers (Sony pc100e) on a Vaio is 100% successful (Odd because it is a slower and lower spec machine.

Any further thoughts would be appreciated.

Wild thought here!

Capturing video only?

;-) "Who's that guy with the shades... What's he trying to prove!”

Hello,

"Capturing video only?" no video & sound

IEEE 1394, Standard PAL 4:3 interlaced, 16 bit audio
Compressor: MS DV PAL
frame size: 720 x 576
Pixel aspect ratio: D1/DV PAL (1.067)
Frame rate: 25

THanks for your interest.

Hello I had the same problem, (on capture dropped frames).
I installed a raid card and purchased an ATA100 drive and the problem was solved, (no more dropped frames).

This may help. When I use Premier 6 I find that I get a variety of unpredictable problems in capturing when I identify my capture device as Sony PC110. However, it seems to work fine when I identify it as Sony generic.
