Ok, so i have a very small movie that is basically only there to give a preview of an mp3.
The page i'm dropping it into will be loaded when person enters email details (all outside flash - this is not the worry)
The actual movie itself contains an mp3 which is around 1.2mb ... i put a preloader in, to load the frame containing the mp3, but it simple goes straight to the frame, as the frame is loaded, but not the mp3.
I want a preloader that only proceeds when the whole mp3 is loaded...
Any clues?
Cheers,
J

Er there isn't much,
I was just basically loading the mp3 (on frame 2 of scene 2)
The first scene loads, and should be the preloader...
the mp3 is on the second frame of scene 2
is this any help?

Carl,
I might be wrong, but my understanding of what Theredqueen is after (for that matter, so is Havey - but that's another story!), is a preloader to preload the main movie including the mp3 which is called with a loadMovie action as indicated by his line "loading the mp3 (on frame 2 of scene 2)".

In this case, a regular scripted preloader, will not work! A preloader usually loads the frames of the main movie, but doesn't analyse the content of these frames, and, for example, doesn't give a s... about loadMovie actions that might be included in that main movie's frames. Thus Theredqueen's preloader is actually doing it's job by preloading the frames of his main movie, but doesn't load the Mp3 which seems to be called by a loadMovie action.

For me, there's one basic reason for using the loadMovie action: reducing the time the main movie's preloader takes to get that main movie playing! So, I'll repeat what I replied to Havey, if you're going to preload (in the main movie's preloader) content from loadMovie actions in the main timeline, you're sort of defeating the purpose of having used the loadMovie actions to reduce the main preloader's preloading time.

So basicly Theredqueen has two choices:

1- Not use the loadMovie action, and simply include the sound in his main movie with attachSound or whatever...
The normal main movie preloader will thus load the Mp3 also since it's there on the main timeline.

2- Change the script of the preloader, so that it preloads the Mp3 also, thus making the use of the loadMovie useless (since the sound will already have been downloaded in the cache, with the preloader!) and only sort of turn it into a switch to start that sound playing. No preloading time will have been saved, and you might as well have used the first method.
