preloading images and flash animations

i created a webpage in dreamweaver4. the page is basically a table with images and 2 flash animations embedded. the problem is that when the pages are coming up, everything comes up in pieces, i.e., an animation will play before the rest of the site is finished loading. i tried using a preloader layer in dreamweaver but that didn't work or i didn't do it correctly. even if it works properly, i don't think thats the answer because i dont want the "loading layer" to "hide" after the flash animations are done. my other option is to do the whole page in flash and use a preloading animation. my goal is to keep this in dreamweaver. any ideas on this? thank you in advance.

You could preload your graphics with JavaScript and then everything will display in the order that you want.
