I have a flash loaded with components but I also want a preloader!!

How can I have the preloader into the first ten frames and after that let the components to start!

In one of the components there is a XMLConnector! And it does not load the XML file! if it is not in the first frame!
Anyway around that?

Can you explane to me again how this can be done!
Is there annyway to have a XMLConnector component to the main movie!

I have read alot of articles about the components and the Preloaders But only the XMLConnector has this main Bug that is it is not in the 1st frame it will not work!

Thanks for your help!

What are you saying exactly? Is it that you are trying to delay the loading of the components to frame 10? You can't do that. The components just don't work right if they aren't loaded in frame one. That means increased intial load (when using components) and it also means that you probably won't see you preloader until well after you don't need it anymore.

Solution (which is the same as what oldnewbie said):

Create a new movie that loads the movie you have the components in. The new movie should contain the preloader only. My experience with the XMLConnector is that it works on any frame.

Hope that helps

Wow JT that almost looked like you knew what you were doing!

Just my 2 cents worth...

...The components just don't work right if they aren't loaded in frame one...

That's questionable! I agree that the seperate preloader movie is IMHO the easiest workaround, and I've been suggesting it since MX came out, but there is at least one other workaround that can be used. If you uncheck all linked elements that are set to export on the first frame (but leave the "export for actionscript" box checked...) and drag an instance of the component, off-stage, usually in unseen frames, between the preloader and the start of the movie, it should function properly, and won't interfere with the preloader's display.
