Predecessor field does not seem to be working

I am using MS Project (2003) and it appears the predecessors are not working. A resource is set-up to complete a task for 1 day and the predecessor should cause the next task for that person to begin task 2 on the next day (based on the predecessor), but that does not seem to be working.

Any thoughts.

Solution:
Calculation mode set to Manual
Go to Tools>Options>Calculation tab and make sure the calculation mode is set to automatic.
