Hi Everyone,
I have take over the admin of a new HP-UX system with a fresh installation of Oracle 8.1.7. However, no precompilers are currently installed. Do I need to do a full re-installation of Oracle to get these installed or is there a short cut (commands if you know). I have checked out the Oracle sites but they jsut refer to the Precompilers Programmers Guide. Any help on this topic would be much appreciated.
Keep up the great work everyone and thanks in advance!

The precompilers are not installed with Oracle 8.1.7 server. You have to do a separate install of Oracle client. If you do a client install and pick type "Programmer", you will get all available precompilers. The alternative is to do a "Custom" install, which allows you to pick the precompilers that you want.

The source of this information is Metalink document 98362.1 - "Where Are the Precompilers located with Oracle 8i?".
